C3.1 Mackenzie King
He was born in 1874 and died in 1950. Mackenzie King was the leader from the 20's-40's and served as the 10th Canadian prime minister. -
C2.2 Founding of the Commonwealth Imperial Conferences
The imperial conference was the seventh conference, bringing together the prime ministers of the British Empire. It was held in London for 3 days. Closer to the end, the commitee rejected the idea of a constitution founded by Africa's former prime minister. After the World War II, meetings between different countries prime ministers replaced the conferences. -
C3.2 Aggression by Imperialist Japan
China was invaded by the Japanese military in 1931, without any consent of the government whatsoever. In the 1930s, Japan intensely expanded the territories under its influence, taking over parts of China, invading territories claimed by the Soviet Union, and fighting across the Pacific during World War II. They violated the "open door policy" meaning, things got in a twist. -
C3.1 The Dionne Quintuplets
The Dionne Quintuplets were the first set of quintuplets to survive. They were born May 28th 1934. The 5 kid's names were Anette, Cecil, Yvonne, Emilie and Marie. To this day, only two are still living. The quintuplets were featured in many advertisements over the years because of their fame. -
C3.1 National Film Board
The national film board is an archive of many different films, and social documentaries in many styles of English and French. There are many WW2 propaganda, newsmagazines, and other sponsored films. Over the years, these films have had 5,000 awards won by all over the world. -
C2.2 The Lend Lease Agreement
The lend lease agreement was the principal means for providing U.S. military aid far nations during World War II. By allowing the transfer of supplies without compensation in Britain, the act allows the U.S. to support their way interests without being in war for too long. -
C2.2 Military Involvement in World War II
A small force of Canadians arrived in Hong Kong to go to the Japanese invasion and help there, Canada entered the war in 1939 and then started to help out periodically. Within the first 2 years of WW2, the U.S. was made official in the 1937 quarantine speech. -
C2.3 Battle of Hong Kong
The Japanese attacked pearl harbour. That same day, they attacked the British crown colony of Hong Kong. The defenders of Hong Kong fought and fought and should be honoured for their work. This war lasted 18 days. -
C3.2 The Manhattan Project
In the late 1930's, the community discovered the German physicians learned how to split an atom. This was a bunch of people who teamed up to develop a bomb, and also a research and development project that produced the first nuclear weapons during World War II. It was led by the United States with the help of the United Kingdom and Canada. -
C2.3 The Italian Campaign
The Italian campaign was n important military effort for Canada doing the war. More than 93,000 Canadians were involved. As they pushed from the South to the North of Italy, over a 20 month period, Canadians had difficulty because they faced battles against most od the German army's best troops. -
C2.3 The Liberation of the Netherlands
The liberation of the Netherlands included lots of the Canadian army. It was their first big role. Towards the end of the second World War, Canadian forces were given the important task of liberating the Netherlands from Nazis. From September 1944 to April 1945, the first Canadian army fought German forces. -
C3.2 The Holocaust
The Holocaust was a genocide where Adolf Hitler's team of Nazi Germans worked together to kill 6 million Jewish people. It started on January 30th and went on until May 8th 1945. Hitler was a cruel man, had death camps all over Germany. Most in Auschwitz, where there were gas chambers to gas Jews to death.
