  • Hitting and Setting

    In 1916, an offensive style of passing the ball at a very high height to be hit by another player was introduced. (Setting and Hitting.)

    In 1917, the game was changed from 21 to 15.

  • New rules

    In 1920, three hits per side and back row attack rules were introduced.

  • New Association.

    In 1928, tournaments and rules were needed so the United Staes Volleyball Association was formed.

  • Referees

    In 1934, national volleyball referees were approved.

  • Two player

    1948, the first two mean beach tournament was held.

  • Olympics

    In 1964, volleyball was introduced to the olympic games.

  • Olympic medals.

    In 1984, U.S won there first medals at the Olympics in L.A. Men taking gold and women taking silver.

  • World League

    In 1990, the world league was created.

  • Olympic sport

    In 1996, two person beach volleyball became an olympic sport.
