    The European exploration of America

    The first Europeans that arrived to the "New World" were Nordic. After 100 years they built a village there. An Italian named
    Colon made a trip to America, he discovered the Caribbean Islands. Later John Cabot arrived to Canada, he established the "the british law".Finally there were 13 British colonies.

    The Colonial Period.

    People who came to Britain were from: Germany,France,Scotland...but especially from England.In 1690 250.000 people went to USA.Later, 13 colonies that formed America were divided into 3 regions called: New England,Central Colonies and Southern Colonies.

    They created governments in all their colonies and they limited the power of the king and he gave more authority to population.

    After a hard war, England won France. Americans settlers were requiered to pay taxes for the economic losses caused by the war and to establish a British Empire.In 1775 started independence war of Great Britain.Later they created a document called "declaration of independence".In 1777 this document was accepted.

    The colonies made a plan to work together as one nation, so the 13 colonies became the USA. Washington was the first president of the USA. Later John Adams and Tomas Jefferson were the presidents.

    A man called Lincoln wanted to eliminate slavery, but southern countries were against him. In 1860 Lincoln became the sixteenth president of the USA and seven southern states decided to separate from the Union.

    Southern countries were against nouthern countries.A week later a man called John Wilker killed president Lincoln.After that, president Johnoson returned political rights to southern countries. During reconstruction black men of southern states could vote but they used public systems separate from white public systems.

    Cities became bigger and immigrants went to the USA with the hope of a better life. The agriculture was the most important activity in the economy. In the 19 century the United States took the control of many Spanish possessions. In the 20 century this country was one of the most powerful countries in the world.

    Before and after the first world war.

    Was a battle between Germany,Hungary,Austria and Turkey against Britain,France,Italy and Russia. In 1917 USA declared war to Germany. The war finished the 11 Novemeber 1918.After the war the United States had problems like poverty, this period was called "crazy 20 years". Later, the president was Franklin Roosevelt.

    Roosevelt established "New Deal", he wanted to stop economic problems of the United States.New Deal included a lot of programs: it established banks, it created new rules, it created Social Security system to help poor people and people without a job...

    Second World war.

    American men fought in Japan and Europe ,American women worked in factories building airplanes,tanks,ships... The war continued in Asia and in the Pacific Ocean.Japan didn't want to leave the war so the president of the USA Harry S. threw the first nuclear attack of the world.
