    The US Supreme Court ruled that school segregration by race was unconstitutional. This law was very important regarding students with disabilities because it laid the foundation for continuing to fight for equality in the educational system.   • PARC V Pennsylvania

    PARC V Pennsylvania
    This law ruled that the state of Pennsylvania couldn't deny any individual the right to having equal education as other students based on intellectual or developmental disabilities. This law also declared that several of the state laws were unconstitutional.   • Educational Amendments Act

    Educational Amendments Act
    The Educational Amendments Act grants federal funds for programs that focuses on exceptional learners. Also includes allowing parents the opportunity to be fully involved. Allowing the families and the student the right to due process.
  • Vocational Rehabilitation Act

    Vocational Rehabilitation Act
    The vocational rehabilitation act was passed in 1973 that excludes discrimination against disability in any program. Those programs also included federal funded programs, Section 504 also includes federal employment.
  • Education for All Handicapped Children Act

    Education for All Handicapped Children Act
    This law is known as Mainstreaming law. This law also focuses on every child having an IEP. Education for All handicapped Children Act requires that states provide free appropriate public education for children ages 5 to 18 with disabilities.

    This court casee focused on the interpretation of the individuals with Disabilities Education Act. Amy Rowley was a student who was deaf. She focused on this law case because her school refused to provide a sign language interpreter.
  • Americans with Disabilities Act

    Americans with Disabilities Act
    ADA was signed by President George H.W Bush on July 26, 1990. This law prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in areas of public life. Those include Jobs, school, Transportation, etc.

    No Child Left Behind
    The No Child Left Behind Act was signed by President bush on January 8th of 2002. This law focuses on creating reliable programs for all students. This law also includes the Title 1 that applies to disadvantaged students.
