    Chapter 766
    Chapter 766 passed in 1972 as a special education law required that all students with special needs have access to education. Over 3,000 students were denied education in Massachusetts school district. Chapter 766 allowed students with disabilities the opportunity to go to school with peers without disabilities. Chapter 766 also lead to the creation of the first federal special education law in 1975 Education for All Handicapped Children Act.

    The Education for All Handicapped Children Act 1975
    The Education for All Handicapped Children Act 1975 was created to help states set up special needs services for students with disabilities in public schools. Has opened doors for students that were told they were unteachable. Help improve the teaching methods, explore how to differentiate their lessons for different learning disabilities. In 1997 Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) was created from the foundation of The Education for All Handicapped Children Act 1975.

    Honig v. Doe in 1988
    Supreme Court case landmark it addressed expelling a student with disabilities when it stems from their disability. It wasn't right to expel child because his disability. The Court came up with an idea of the “ten-day rule” which means that a child with an IEP can be suspended for up to ten days without a court interference or parental consent. Lead to the creation of manifestation determination meeting which will see if the infraction was a result of the disability or not.
