    American School for the Deaf was originally the Asylum at Hartford,Connecticut by Thomas Hopskins Gaullaudet and Lauret Cler . It was one of the oldest schools in the United States of America. American School for the Deaf was an education institution deaf and hard-of -hearing students. In 1893, the institution was named after Thomas Gaullaudet , Gallaudet University in Washington, DC.
