Romans whistling stones
The Romans developed a special sling round that not only physically harmed their opponents, but also mentally scared those who heard it. They drilled small holes in the stones they put in their slings so that the stones would whistle as they flew through the air until they hit their target. This is one of the earliest forms of psychological warfare. -
