Day of Birth
I was born on January 9th, 1991 in St. Thomas U.S. Virgin Islands. I was born to the parents of Kennedy and Esther Vanterpool and my older siblings Kenesha and Kenesky Vanterpool. -
3rd Birthday Party
The earliest birthday party that I could remember (because of pictures) is my 3rd Birthday Party. There was lots of food and lots of fun. There was also a vanilla birthday cake made by my mommy. There was vanilla frosting with 3 pink candles on the top of the cake. At this point in my life, the sibling rivalry had not begun. -
Kindergarten
I started Kindergarten in 1996 at Edgar Glover Jr. Elementary School. I was 5 years old. I was excited to go to school and could not wait! My brother and sister went to school and everything they did I wanted to do it also (and it is still that way sometimes). I caught the school bus with my brother and sister. There was a bus bully, but he had a crush on my sister. So since I was related to her, he never picked on me. -
Kindergarten Graduation
I graduated from Kindergarten in 1997. The school used to make a really big deal. Every guy had to dress up in a suit and every girl had to dress in a white dress. The ceremony took place at the school and all the parents and guardians came watch their baby graduate from Kindergarten. Even the parents dressed up. I'm sure people would have thought that they were headed to a college graduation. After we got our dipolmas, we could finally enter the upper elementary classrooms. -
Middle School
I entered Lake Olympia Middle School in 2002. I was so excited because I did not have to wake up as early anymore since school started at 9:00am. I was also very nervous because middle school is that awkward moment in everybody's life. I try to forget those times. I don't even have pictures myself (I'm sure my mother does) to make it seem like those times did not happen at all. -
High School
I entered Hightower High School in 2005, the same year my siblings graduated from High School. Since Elementary school I was not able to attend the same school as my sibilings at the same time. Seeing that they started school at the same time (not twins) they went to the same school or was even in the same class all of their lives. I, however, endured this journey alone. I did however stick close by my best friend and her brother (my adopted siblings). -
16th Birthday
On January 9th, 2007 I turned 16. This was one of the top best birthdays I've had. My brother and sister threw me a surprise birthday party. All my church friends and school friends came. First my sister and brother brought me to see the movie Stomp the Yard. While the trailers were playing at the begining a few people that I knew kept walking in. Then after the movie, my siblings brought me to Applebee's. I walked in and everyone was there! Surprise! -
Driver's License
I got my driver's license when I was 17 years old. In preparation for the driver's test, my dad would take me to the park and make me drive the car around. He would make me reverse the car and park it. I was so happy the first day that I got to drive on the street with other cars around me and even happier when I could do it legally. -
First Press
I got my hair pressed for the first time before my senior year of high school in 2008. I was supposed to get it permed for the first time when I entered middle school but my father refused to let that happen. I was angry for 6 years. Then I got my hair pressed! I thought I was too cute. 5 years later and I still go to the same hairstylist. -
Anguilla Visit
My siblings and I went to Anguilla by ourselves for the first time. Every other time that we went was with our parents. All of our cousins came down. We even got to meet a new cousin. It was like a "Cousin Reunion" plus our grandparents. -
Oakwood College Days
Every year, my church takes the seniors in High School to Oakwood for their college days. 2008 was finally my time to go. It was like a rite of passage. I had so much fun that weekend. I really thought that I was going to end up going to Oakwood for my Education. As you can see, that was not God's plan for my life. -
18th Birthday
I waited for this day my whole life! I love my 18th birthday party. All my school friends and church friends were there and there was no adult supervision, because I was the "adult" and my other friends who turned 18 previous. My sister lent me her car to drive that night which was also very exciting because it was the first time I ever had the car to myself with my friends. =D -
SWAU Visit
This was the day I visited SWAU. I really enjoyed the small campus and how everyone was super friendly. Every time I wallked by someone they would say "Hello" or "How are you doing?". This was a shock to all of us. We are not that friendly in Houston. After this visit I was torn between the two colleges, either Oakwood or SWAU. -
Prom
I went to Prom in 2009. That night was pretty cool. It was a Saturday night, so of course I left after sunset. I also "spent the night" at a friends house in order to be able to stay out all night. That night/morning ended with the typical breakfast at IHOP. -
Graduation
I graduated from L.V. Hightower High School with 649 of my closest friends at the Toyota Center in Houston. I was so happy for that day because it meant that I could finally get out of the house, even if it meant going away to college. -
College Bound
The day before I left for college, my Bestie came over and we had a real heart-to-heart. She also gave me a calendar that was made by pictures of us throughout the year. I still have it today. Even though the year is diffrent, the pictures are forever. She also baked me a cake and got me a full length for my dorm room because she knows me so well. -
First Day
My first day at SWAU was Awesome! I got to meet a lot new people at the Freshmen pizza feed that they had. The pizza was also very good. The icebreaker was hilarious. People had to pass the volleyball without it dropping to the floor and without unlinking their hands. Good times. -
Sister's Graduation
My sister graduated from the University of Houston in 2009. She is a real inspiration. I truley look up to her. She knows what she wants and she goes after it. I also try to do the same thing. Hopefully I can graduate in 4 years like she did. -
Snow
The first time that I can remember seeing snow was in . (I'm sure I have seen snow before because we lived in Michigan when I was a toddler.) I had so much fun that day. Classes were canceled so we got to play in the snow. Afterwards we stayed in the dorm, since it was too cold outside, and ordered pizza and watched movies. -
Meyerson
My first time singing at the Meyerson was in 2010. It is one of the greatest singing experiences of my life. The Meyerson is so big and it is so famous. It is a story that I can one day tell to my kids. -
First Choir Trip
The first choir trip was to Sea World. The University Singers packed up in two buses and went to San Antonio. We sang at a couple of churches on Saturday. Saturday Night we all ate dinner together as a choir at Macaroni Grill. On Sunday we celebrated by having a blast at Sea World. -
Disney Wedding
I went to my cousin's wedding at Disney World in Florida in 2010. My dad, brother, and my other cousin drove the whole 19 hours to Florida. It was a long, cramped drive. When we got there and experienced all the fun with our family, we realized that the trip was well worth it. -
Jada
My cousin Jada joined our household the summer of 2010. It was a day I would never forget. She was really shy the first day, but ever since then she has not been. I was used to being the baby of the family, then this little 5 year old came and took my place. She is funny though and very fun to mess with. She believes evey word I say and I use to to my advantage. -
Boston
I went to Boston for the first time with the University Singers in 2011. It was really fun. We were there for 10 days. We got to visit Cape Cod, and we even got to visit Vermont. We sang in a lot of random places like museums, and out on the street. It was really fun and we all bonded as a choir. -
Contacts
I got my first pair of contacts for prom, but didn't end up wearing them. So this time when I got fitted for contacts I was determined to wear them since my parents spent so much money on it. I was super excited but nervous at the same time because the first time I got them, I couldn't get the hang of it. But this second time, so far, so good.
