The game was banned in Scotland in 1457, because of the popularity by the people, instead of tmilitary training for war to defend themselves from the English, the people were playing golf. -

First golf course
The first golf course as we knew it started in Leith near England. The first international golf game was held here when Duke of York and George Patterson beat 2 English nobleman.
The name caddie was given to the military cadets that would help the royalty with there equipment. -
First Golf Club formed
In 1744, the first club was formed as a yearly compitition with a silver golf club awarded as a prize for the winner. Duncan Forbes was the man who began the clubs rules for the game to be played by everyone. -
Club renamed
In 1768 the club was renamed the Honourable Company of Edinburg Golf club, and they even had a clubhouse made. Which they later moved to Musselburgh, Lothian in 1836. -
Golf as we know today is formed
By 1854 the game as we know today was formed. They used iron golf clubs with wooden heads make from beech or apple tree wood; the balls were made of tightly compressed feathers wrapped in horse hide. Today these forms of golf clubs and balls are highly wanted for a golf collector. -
Golf introduced to America
In 1894 the game was brought to America, with more than 1000 golf clubs, the first club was in Chicago, it had 18 holes as we play on today. -
Golf became an Olympic event.
In the 1900's golf was so reviered and watched that they introduced the game into the Olympic Games. -
USA dominated the game of Golf.
In the 1970's USA dominated the game until 1985 when the Europeans took back control when they won the Ryder cup in 1985, the winning streak of the USA.
