    Spread of Christianity
    When Emperor Constantine welcomed Christianity in the Roman Empire, the religion spread rapidly throughout the land. This event was distinctly influential since religion partakes a great role in Roman customs: titles(Pontifex Maximus), propaganda, etc. In addition, this introduction of Christianity set the tone for the following centuries; for example, the Europeans who first colonized the United States were seeking religious freedom(freedom of Christianity).

    Industrial Revolution
    From slow handcraft in cottages to mass production in factories, the Industrial Revolution changed all aspects of production. In this thriving time period, many creations were introduced into the world: steamboats, steamtrains, machines, cars, electricity, and etc. It is thanks to the Industrial Revolution that we have access to current transportation and electronics.

    Women's Rights Movement
    There are many stereotypes revolving around women and their worth. Throughout history, women were only seen as a thoughtless source of joy. They could not have a voice of their own or even vote. In 1848, strong women who were willing to go against all odds started the Women's Right Movement. It wasn't until recent years that women were finally recognized as equals and gained a right to vote. If it wasn't for this movement, there would still be inequalities among sexs.

    The Civil War was a fight between the northern and southern United States over slavery and expansion. After the most costly and bloody war ever fought on American soil, the North, or the Union, surrendered its enemy. This outcome of the war soon ended slavery in the United States. Although the war devastated uncountable lives and the southern economy, it helped slaves to regain their human rights.

    Invention of Domestic Air Conditioning
    In 1902, Willis Carrier created domestic air conditioning. Over the summer, I have been truly thankful for air conditioning; it figuratively(> <) saved my life. Although its effect on global warming is atrocious, I would still like to show gratitude for Willis Carrier for providing us a source for us to cool down in the unbearable heat.

    Founding of Penicilin
    The discovery of penicillin was a world changing event due to the fact that so many illnesses and diseases can be easily cured by the correct use of it. In fact most of the medicine that we get prescribed when we’re sick is in some way related to penicillin since it helped scientist in the field of research for medicine. Without this discovery we probably wouldn’t have been able to cure diseases and illnesses as we are able to today.
  • Manhattan Project

    Manhattan Project
    The Manhattan Project led by J. Robert Oppenheimer started during WWII to devastate the Germans. Its goal was to develop the atomic bomb. However, Oppenheimer could not meet his goal by the time the Nazis have surrendered. The costly new weapon was about to go to waste, therefore, the government decided to drop it on Japan instead. Its effect proved to be more powerful than expected. Currently, this creation of the atomic bomb soon caused massive conflicts between countries.

    United Nations(UN)
    With a failed attempt of the League of Nations after WWI, United Nations was created after WWII to solve global issues. It consists of many different branches: general assembly, security council, economic and social council, human rights council, etc. Currently, the UN are maintaining international peace and security, promoting sustainable development, and working on many other human right movements. The UN are holding the international connections together and working towards global peace.
