    Plessy V. Ferguson
    the Supreme Court decided that racial segregation should be allowed. They stated that if all things were separate but still equal it can still apply and work for all. However, we saw how all things were extremely unjust and completely unfair for people of color.
  • Brown V. Board of Education

    Brown V. Board of Education
    school children from four different states discussed how public schools were considered unfair. Public schools were depriving children of equal protection from other schools. Not only children of color discriminated but also children with disabilities as well.
  • Coral Way Bilingual School

    Coral Way Bilingual School
    during this time many children were migrating from Cuba and arriving to Miami. They were given a school in Coral Way named Coral Way Elementary School. Half of their students were Hispanic and their school curriculum was taught in both English and Spanish.

    the ESEA or the Elementary and Secondary Education Act was made to help low-income students during the war. This act was made help fight segregation in schools. This was also designed to help students with disadvantages and/or disabilities.
  • PARC V. Pennsylvania

    PARC V. Pennsylvania
    the Federal Court decided that young kids with disabilities must be given free and appropriate public education. This act was showing how many officials were neglecting these children from the education they deserved and needed. Thanks to this case we saw the importance that needed to be placed on these kids with disabilities so they can receive the education that they required and needed.

    the EAHCA or the Education for all Handicapped Children Act was designed to help students with disabilities in public schools. This act was made to provide free and special education. This later was renamed to IDEA or Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
  • No Child Left Behind Act

    No Child Left Behind Act
    this was a law passed that would benefit children by providing money in exchange for academic progress. This act was meant to help poor funded schools to increase their funds through academics. However, this act was removed because there were not enough resources proving that children were given the right opportunities to do well academically.
  • American Reinvestment Act

    American Reinvestment Act
    this act was made during the market crash in 2009. It was used to help fund schools so there would be no school cuts or layoffs. More than 90 billion dollars were given and it went towards school repairs and more.
  • Alabama and Immigrant Students

    Alabama and Immigrant Students
    during this time Alabama one of the first states to begin checking students’ immigration status. The law states that schools may not prohibit the enrollment of undocumented students. Many spoke up and said that it was unconstitutional.

    during this time Covid cases have risen and schools are forced to close. Many schools are forced to begin distanced learning. Many parents, teachers, and students are forced to stay at home and continue their education from a computer.
