First Apple iPhone Released
The very first iPhone and very first smartphone. This phone changed the idea of a mobile phone forever as it was the most easy to use touchscreen phone to ever be released to this point. -
iPhone 3G
The next iPhone introduced 3G data capabilities with it making browsing the web much easier. It also improved the specs of the phone, making it much faster and more capable than the first one. 3rd party apps also became a commonplace. -
iPhone 3GS
The iPhone 3GS was the first phone to introduce the "S" lineup. Under this model, Apple updates the overall form factor of the phone every two years but still releases a new phone every year. The "S" phones look the same as their predecessor but are improved internally. -
iPhone 4
The iPhone 4 brought the biggest change to Apple's device thus far. It introduced a much higher quality display and a completely redesigned form factor. The phone was now flat on the front and back and also featured flat sides. -
iPhone 4S
The 4S marked the first time Apple relased their phone in the Fall rather than Summer. The 4S visually looked the same as the 4, but was faster and more capable. The 4S also introduced Siri, a personal voice assistant that is now somewhat ubiquitous. -
iPhone 5
The iPhone 5 was the first iPhone to show an increase in screen size. At this point, Apple's phone had some of the smallest screens on phones so competition forced them to make the upgrade. This phone was also the first iPhone to have LTE data capabilities. Finally, the iPhone 5 also featured a new, smaller charging port. -
iPhone 5S
The 5S followed the normal "S" upgrade model and looked the same as the 5 but offered improved internal specs. The 5S also had a fingerprint scanner integrated into the home button. -
iPhone 5C
Apple also introduced the 5C along with the 5S. The 5C had limited capabilities and was also available in a large variety of colors. While normally every iPhone was highly capable, this phone was meant for less demanding users. This has been the only "C" model phone released thus far. -
iPhone 6 & 6+
The iPhone 6 and 6+ both drastically increased the screen sizes of the iPhone. The 6's screen size is 4.5" (compared to the original 3.5" and 4" introduced on the iPhone 5) and the 6+ came in at a whopping 5.5" screen size. -
iPhone 6S and 6S+
Apple released "S" versions of both size phones as their newest models. They look identical to their predecessors but offer several internal improvements as well. The most notable changes are a higher megapixel camera and a screen that can sense pressure.
