The Louisiana Purchase was a piece of land that was owned by the French. The French then sold it later because they needed some money. The United States bought the land thus, expanding the United States and gaining control of the Mississippi River. -
The Lewis and Clark Journey West
Lewis and Clark were two English explorers that were sent by the president, Thomas Jefferson, to go and explore the new land that they bought. While Lewis found over 200 new uncharted plant and animals species, Clark drew maps of the new land. They made a great team together. They met some nice Natives along the way who helped them survive their journey. A Native named Sacajawea joined them on their exhibition and helped them along the way. -
The Texas War for Independence
The Texas War of Independence was a war to battle for independence for Texas from Mexico. Austin rode to Mexico City to present a list of requested forms to Mexican officials. The most critical requirement was for the State of Texas to become a self-governed state within Mexico. General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna agreed to most of the reforms. Later, Santa Anna learned that Austin wrote a letter saying that if he didn't meet the requirements, Austin would break from Mexican Rule. Thus, war. -
Attack of Fort Sumter
General P.G.T. Beauregard, in command of the Confederate forces around Charleston Harbor, opened fire on the Union garrison holding Fort Sumter. Major Robert Anderson, garrison commander, surrendered the fort and was evacuated the next day. Fort Sumter was a federal outpost in Charleston, South Caroline, that was attacked by Confederate troops thus, starting the Civil War. -
Death of Susan B Anthony
She a women's right advocate that helped fight for women's rights when they were being treated unfairly compared to the men back in that time. She helped the rights of women by voting, keeping property, and any others that were mainly controlled by men. When she died, it was a huge disappointment for women. -
Sinking of Lusitania
In 1915 the German U-boats hit and destroyed the Lusitania. This was an event that merged the US into World War I. The news spread quickly. -
Titanic
The Titanic was a huge ship that carried passengers from Southampton to NYC. But then it hit an iceberg, sank, and killed many people. -

The public decided that they wanted separate schools for the black and white kids. This idea was against the constitution therefore, the law didn't pass and the two races could still go to the same school. -

Elvis, a well-known musician who was loved by many fans died by a possible overdose of medication drugs. All of his fans were greatly depressed but his music still lives on throughout the course of time. -
