Battle of Thermopylae
Leonidas a spartan ruler and 300 Spartans died fighting against 100,000 Persian fighters. 7000 Greeks came to battle the Persians, but because of there size everyone fled except for 300 Spartans, 700 Thespians, and 400 Thebans. This battle saved Greece enough time to prepare to fight the Persians. -
United States Declares Independance
This is the day the British colonies left Britain and became their own country, This was the start of america. This is also the day the declaration of independence was signed. -
Attack on Fort Sumter
The Confederate states were attacking the unions base controlling Charleston harbor, the Confederate wanted to control Fort Sumter so they attacked it and after 34 hours the unions Fort Sumter surrendered to the confederacy. -

The RMS Titanic struck an iceberg in the Atlantic ocean and sank. This ship was said to be unsinkable, and that is what everyone thought. Without this event people would not have thought to change the safety of boats. -

Elvis Presley died of a heart attack. He was considered the king of rock and roll. He made songs that related to the civil rights movement. -

World trade center and the Twin Towers where destroyed by two planes crashing into them. Another plane crashed into the pentagon, and the 4th into a field in Pennsylvania. This event caused the world to add more safety and security to airports and everywhere possible. -
