    The earliest studies of the Rocky Mountain spotted fever too place at this time in Montana. As the article stated, "In 1902, 7 people died of the Rocky Mountain spotted fever in the Bitterroot Valley" (Patel, 2021). Although that was not all those were just the first few cases that were documented there have been many more after that.

    Creating the National Institute on Aging was brought into the law at this time. This act that was passed was aimed to help understand the aging process and make it become more well known to everyone because all at some point will deal with aging if not already have.     NHLBI - Cystic Fibrosis

    The NHLBI (National Heart, Lung, and Blood Instituted) were able to successfully transfer a normal gene of cystic fibrosis into the cell lining of a patient that had cystic fibrosis within his or her lungs and the treatment was very successful and lead to saying many cystic fibrosis lives. Later known as Gene Therapy. As I read in an article, “Gene therapy is a process in which a new, correct version of the CFTR gene would be placed into the cells in a person's body” (CFF, 2022).

    According to a study from NIA and NCRR, an Underlying vitamin D deficiency in postmenopausal women has been associated with the many hip fracture in women along with many injuries dealing with the bones. Vitamin D is crucial when trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle and being able to also care for a child in the womb. The ways that women can now get vitamin D is very known through a pill, within drinks, and mainly from being out in the sun.

    NHLBI clinical trials

    The NHLBI (National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute) were able to prove the risks of combining estrogen and progestin in menopausal women and were able to prove that it increased the risk for breast cancer. They were also able to show that the benefits of combining estrogen and progestin was able to show a major increase in breast cancer among women. The trials were becoming more harmful to women than helping them so the trials were stopped as soon as they were able to stop.

    The common cold was known to be a major contribute to over a half of peoples asthma outbreaks. The rhinoviruses is known to be a major cause of the common cold that might be spiking the rise in asthma. According to this website, "Children who wheeze with rhinoviruses are at increased risk to go on to develop asthma" (Jackson, 2022). This can be a major cause of why so many people are not able to run like they used to for long periods of time and many other health influenced things.

    President Obama signed the known health care reform law, also known as the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The law was able to authorize the new institutions plan to be more organized and conduct more research on the given topics. The Affordable Care Act was put into place to protect individuals belongings and still be able to help them in the long run.

    During President Obamas time in office, he announced that NIH will be connecting and collaborating with the FDA and other defensive agencies to be able to develop a safer route for drugs to be administered more quickly.The NIH is National Institutes for Health, widely known as a research center. FDA is the Food and Drug Administration, in which they test and come up new and improved ways of health.

    Recently Ebola was tested within the United states and were confirmed cases. The first four were tested after that the outbreak had spread and caused 11 more cases to be reported. Ebola was known as a fatal disease. The disease consisted of a severe fever and internal bleeding that was uncontrollable.

    COVID-19

    The first outbreak that was found in America of COVID-19 was in Washington state and many other places were responding to the outbreak as it was arising. As the CDC website states, "CDC reports the first laboratory-confirmed case of the 2019 Novel Coronavirus in the U.S. from samples taken on January 18 in Washington state and on the same day activates its Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to respond to the emerging outbreak" (CDC, 2023).
