  • PARC v. Pennsylvania

    This case estabilished that all individuals with an intellectual disability should have access to education like the rest of the population. The outcome of this case was that children no longer be denied access ro public school systems in Pennsylvania (www.fortlawgroup.com).
  • Honig V. Doe

    This case helped guide the proper role of educators in the suspension and expulsion of disabled students. Doe's grandparents stated that children with disablities be expelled in result of behaviors due to disability without due process under IDEA. The supreme court ruled that this case "will help delineate the proper role of educators in the suspension and expulsion of handicapped students (Yell, 1989)
  • Timothy W. V. Rochester, New Hempshire, School District

    This case was rulled under the EAHCA (Education for all handicapped children act), schools are required to provide special education services to any student regardless of how severe their disability is. Timothy presented severe disabilities that educators clasimed made him incapable of being educated. The court tuled that the EAHCA gives priority to extened services to students with diabilities, giving a "Zero reject" policy (Steketee, 2022)
  • Americans with disabilities act

    This act prohibits discrimination against people with disbilities in all aspects of life, including public places and employment. This has supported students in that it allows them the same oppurtunities as alll the other students and offeres the abilites to move freely throughout the school.
  • Individuals with disabilities education act

    Originally known as EAHCA, this act makes a free approriate public education (FAPE) to students with disabilities, This act helps support students in getting education regardless of the severity of their disability, allowing them to be educated right alongside all other students.
