    Mills v. Board of Education of the District of Colombia
    Students no matter if they are in special education, behavioral, hyperactive, or emotionally disabled, they should be allowed to participate in public school (Forte, 2017). They can not be denied the right to have education just like every other student in the District of Colombia.
    The court ruled in Mill's favor that all students have the right to attend schools.

  • Individuals with Disabilities Education Act

    Individuals with Disabilities Education Act
    This law ensures students no matter their disabilities are able to receive free public education. This helps to provide students with early intervention, special education, and any other services required (IDEA.gov, 2022).
    Congress authorized this act in 2002 which now also has ESSE in 2015 which can be seen in the ESSE timeline event.

  • Board of Education v. Rowley

    Board of Education v. Rowley
    Rowley was a deaf student that was brighter than most of her peers but was not being challenged in the classroom. All requests to give her an interpreter to show how much she knew were denied. It was later ruled that through the IDEA act students should have access to education that provides an appropriate benefit (Forte, 2017).

  • American Disabled Act

    American Disabled Act
    This act ensures they are able to live "normal" lives as much as possible. This is a civil right just the same as every man and woman has the right to vote.
    This was voted in order to uphold the standards of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (archive.ADA.gov, 2022). President George H.W. Bush signed this act ensuring no matter their physical or mental abilities citizens are not limited to participate in major life events.

    Every Student Succeeds Act
    The main purpose of this Act is that all students have high academic standards to get them through life and further education if so desired (ESSE.gov, 2022).
    This act was put in place by President Obama to ensure that all citizens get the proper education and help throughout their whole public school time. It was an updated act from IDEA to ensure we help in every way possible.
