It was the first to overturn Pennsylvania’s law that excluded children with intellectual disabilities from receiving the same public education as other children. The state was ruled they must provide free public education to all children even those with disabilities and provide an individualized education. -

Board of Education of the Hendrick Hudson Central School District v. Rowley

During her IEP meeting Amy’s parents requested a sign-language interpreter in all her classes which was then denied by the school district. The court sided with the school district, who was found not legally responsible to provide an interpreter. -
Honig v. Doe

It was ruled by the court that a school district could not unilaterally exclude or expel a disabled child from the classroom setting for dangerous or disruptive conduct growing out of their disabilities. -
Americans With Disabilities Act
The Americans with Disabilities Act was signed to forbid discrimination against individuals with disabilities and guarantees that those individuals with disabilities have the equal opportunities as everybody else in America. This act has backed the needs of students with disabilities because it permits them to receive all necessary accommodations and inclusivity. -
