  • Brown v. Board of Education (1954)

    Brown's stance was that segregation within school should be illegal.
    Court's stance was a previous ruling in Plessy v. Ferguson. This court ruling stated that it was legal to have separate educational facilities for different families.
    This court ruling was in favor of Brown's stance and ended segregation in schools. (Harkins, 2017).
  • Board of Education v. Rowley

    Rowley's stance was that child with disabilities should have access to certain learning tools and resources to help them to gain an equal education.
    Board of Education's stance is that they should do what is appropriate within the child's IEP and appealed. (Harkins, 2017). The ruling gave access services that the child needed to gain an equal education in relation to the child's indivdualized plan and specialized instruction.
  • Timothy W. v. Rochester, New Hampshire, School District

    Every student, even those with disabilities have the right to an equally free education. This law fits for the rights of education for those with disabilities.(Harkins, 2017).
  • Americans With Disabilities Act

    This act helps to protect all those with disabilities when obtaining services, communications, or programs. It also grants equal opportunity and access for those with disabilities as well. (Americans With Disabilities Act | U.S. Department of Labor, n.d.)
  • IDEA-Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.

    This act enables those with disabilities the right to have a free equal education. Also, it ensures that they are entitled to tools and resources that they need to strive or succeed. (IDEA—the Individuals With Disabilities Education Act | Center for Parent Information and Resources, 2017)
