Integration of Schools
In Alabama, schools began to desegregate in 1963. On September 9th, Governor Wallace tried to stop black students from attending all white schools with police force, but black students persisted. On September 10th, 23 black students enrolled in previously all white schools in Birmingham, Mobile and Tuskegee. -

Black Panther Party
An African-American militant group founded by Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale in 1966. Originally it was created for self defense against police brutality. But the group also gave back to their community by feeding and educating African-Americans.

Assassination of Robert Kennedy
Senator Robert Kennedy was shot in Los Angeles after winning California's primary the election against Richard Nixon. He was shot by 22-year old Palestinian Sirhan Sirhan and died a day later. Sirhan confessed and received a death sentence March 3, 1969. However, in California, death penalties were invalidated, so Sirhan stayed in prison for life.
