    Senator Robert Kennedy was shot in Los Angeles after winning California's primary the election against Richard Nixon. He was shot by 22-year old Palestinian Sirhan Sirhan and died a day later. Sirhan confessed and received a death sentence March 3, 1969. However, in California, death penalties were invalidated, so Sirhan stayed in prison for life.
