John Kay
He invented the flying shuttle in May of 1733, John Kay 1704-64, English inventor. He patented (1733) the fly shuttle, operated by pulling a cord that drove the shuttle to either side, freeing one hand of thew weaver to press home the weft. Workers in the weaving industry who regarded Kay's invention as a threat to their jobs mobbed Kay and destroyed his model. The flying shuttle is still used today, along with other more modern inventions. -
James Watt
invented the Watt engine in 1764. While repairing a model Newcomen steam engine in 1764, Watt was impressed by its waste of steam. In May 2765, after wrestling with the problem of improving it, he suddenly came upon a solution-the separate condenser, his first and greatest invention. Watt had realized that the loss of latent heat( the heat involved in changing the state of a substance- e.g.,solid or liquid) was the worst defect of Newcomen engine. -
Robert Fulton
invented the steamboat in 1807. Robert Fulton then obtained a patent for his steamboat in 1809, which was granted to him in a record 42 days and another one next year after making some improvements to his initial model. He granted exclusive rights for steamboat transport on the Hudson River by the state of New York. -
Richard Trevithick
Invented the steam locomotive in 1803. Richard Trevithick,1771-1833,British engineer and inventor, b.Cornwall. He is known as the father of locomotive power because of his invention (1800) of the high-pressure steam engine. -
James Hargreaves
Invented the Spinning Jenny in 1720-22 April 1778, In 1760s, one of the very few weavers who owned their owned their own spinning wheel in the village of Stan-hill. . One day his daughter Jenny inadvertently knocked over the spinning wheel. The spindle revolved, incessantly and that gave him an idea that a line of spindles can be worked off by just one wheel. Similar wheels are still used today in the hobby. -
George Stephenson
invented Steam locomotive in 1804. George Stephenson was an engineer. He built steam locomotive for the first railways. Sometimes people call him 'The Father of the Railways'. -
Richard Arkwright
invented the water frame, he was an English inventor and entrepreneur who was one of the most prominent figures of the industrial Revolution, After his experimentation with horses failed, Arkwright used water wheel to power the spinning frame due to which the invention was renamed water frame. in 1769, Arkwright patented the water frame. Before the water frame, the textile business was essentially a cottage industry. -
Louis Pastur
Invented the Polarized Light in 1849. When polarized light is passed through a solution of dissolved tartaric acid, the angle of the plane of light is rotated. Pasteur observed that another compound called paratartaric acid, also found in wine sediments, had the same composition as tartaric acid. Most scientists assumed the two compounds were identical. However, Pasteur observed that paratartaric acid did not rotate plane-polarized light. -
Thomas Edison
invented the light bulb in 1879. Thomas Edison's inventions included the telegraph, the universal stock ticker, the phonograph, the first commercially practical incandescent electric light bulb, alkaline storage batteries and the Kinetograph(a camera for motion pictures). -
Nikola Tesla
invented Tesla coil in 1891. Tesla, for his part, continued in his work and would patent several more inventions during this period, including the "Tesla Coil,"which laid the foundation for wireless technologies and still used in radio technology today. -
Henry Bessemer
Invented manufacturing steel in 1856.Henry Bessemer's early invention of a group of six steam- powered machines for manufacturing bronze powder gained him wealth and fame. He also made other inventions in his early days, including an advanced sugarcane-crushing machine.
