1511: Diego Velazquez became the governor of Cuba. He made Hernan one of the top people of Cuba. Remember this is all in the 1400’s and 1500’s

1518: Diego sent Hernan to Mexico. After a fight, Velazquez revoked Cortes’ status. He revoked his status. What it means as in revoked is Diego Velazquez canceled Hernan’s quest.

1519: Hernan went to Mexico anyways. Hernan Cortes disobeyed Diego. This means that something good or bad could happen to Hernan. In the same year Hernan became the new governor of New Spain. In July of that year Hernan tried to meet the Aztec king, Montezuma. In November of 1519 Cortes took Montezuma as a hostage.

1520: Diego Velazquez wanted to attack Hernan. When he did Hernan Cortes’ men fought back. Hernan’s people won an beated Diego’s people in that battle. In July of that year he killed Montezuma.

1527: Hernan was blamed on poisoning his enemies. The king of spain sent other leaders after Cortes. This was not a good thing.

1547: He died in 1547. The day was December 2. He died in Spain as a spanish conquistador.
