Helen Longino wrote a book named "Social Knowledge: Values and Objectivity in Scientific Inquiry". This book was a major contribution in tying literature from philosophy of science in with the social studies of science. Her point of view was that science is built on social values and diversity. Contextual Empiricism
This was Helen's idea proposed in Science as Social Science that scientific principles were based on an individual's social values and that this could be incorporated into the scientific method. She believed that somebody's point of view or diversity allowed them to decide where data collected would apply to a hypothesis. -

This was the second book Helen wrote that would go deeper into the idea that science was social. She started to dig deeper into branches and studies of science to prove her point. Feminist Epistemology As A Local Epistemology
From discovering that scientist would use social values in determining scientific data she went on to apply this to Feminist Epistemology. Helen received a few awards for her written books, but her most recent was being inducted into the American Academy of Arts Sciences because of her strides and works in the world of philosophy and science. -
