    Conference of Academics and High Schools meets
    This conference met to discuss interscholastic sports, or sporting events where schools competed against each other. They decided to add strict rules for student athletes. One major rule that was laid down was that students must have good grades in order to play for the school.

    The Chicago South Park district constructed 10 parks, a cost of $5 million, complete with fieldhouses. The fieldhouses were used for sporting events and dances. Organized leagues took place here.

    Rifle shooting added to PSAL
    Boys competed for marksmanship badges in this new sport. 7,000 boys were a part of it initially. Schools with the highest scores would receive prizes because rifle shooting was a good sport in preparation for combat.
  • PSAL named world's greatest athletic organization

    PSAL named world's greatest athletic organization
    At this point, America had 17 imitator PSAL's. The athletic badge was also designated as the prize for all competitions.
  • National Federation of State High School Athletic Associations is founded

    Educators founded this organization to regulate education among sports at the national level as well as the state level.
