It was a big drought
the land was too dry to grow crops on
They would have dust storms, because all the loose soil would blow up with the wind. It went on from 1932- 1950’s. It had little to none rainfall, high winds, and soft soil. By the 1940’s, 2.5 million people left the places affected by the dust bowl. -

He took action during the Great Depression. He created the New Deal, and made the Great depression better for people. He was the right president at the time. He made the government take drastic measures to help the economy. -

It was a crucial turning point for Germany. Hitler wanted Germany to become more unified and powerful. He wanted them to ignore the normal politics. He wanted to prove they were more superior

CCC is Created
Civilian Conservation Corps was the first part of the New Deal Program. It kept young men off the streets. They would plant trees, and help prevent fires, reforestation,and soil conservation. It helped after the drought. -
WPA is Created
Congress approved the Works Progress Administration. It was approved to help the unemployed workers provide for themselves or families. It made the workers do building construction, road and bridge construction. They also did dam construction when needed. It also provided federal funding for the students who were given work under the National Youth Administration. -
J.J. Braddock Wins Heavyweight Boxing Title
He was a boxer before the depression. After the stock market crash, he became less important in the boxing ring. After he broke his hand, he lost his job as a boxer. He went a few months without boxing, and he would get odd jobs from time to time. He got back into boxing, and he became better at it. He won a lot of fights, and then he finally won the HeavyWeight Boxing title. It sparked some faith in the people that were hopeless. -

He called it the Hitler games. He used it to prove Germans were the superior race. He got proved wrong by Jesse Owens.

Kristallnacht (The Night of Broken Glass)
It was a massive, planned attack on the Jews. This is called "The Night of Broken glass." Germans started doing this after a jew shot a German for treating his family poorly. Since Hitler didn't like Jews, it thought it would be a great reason to rise up against them. Germans beat and murdered Jews. They broke into their houses, and injured Jewish women and children. This started the holocaust. They sent 25,000 jews to a concentration camp to where they would be beat or beat to death. -

Hitler ordered the Nazis to attack Poland. They were bombing Polish cities in order to try and take over Poland. Hitler wanted to become more powerful. This act started World War II. -

Franklin D. Roosevelt gave us four reasons to enjoy. The four reasons are: Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Worship, Freedom from Want, and Freedom from Fear. He wanted then to escape the isolationism of the policies from WWI. IT helped to encourage them to get better.
