Also known as The Great War. On June 28, 1914, Austria declared war on Serbia, beginning WWI. Shortly after, Germany declared war on Russia, France, and invaded Belgium. Britain declared war on Germany, Turkey entered the war on Germany's side, then Italy declared war on Germany and Austria. In 1917, the USA declared war on Germany, and on November 11, 1918, Germany signed an armstice with the Allies. -
The Russian Revolution of 1917
Also known as the February Revolution, it was responsible for the fall of the Tsarist autocracy, and the establishment of the Soviet Union. The revolution forced the governemnt to promise an elected assembly. In October, the Czar granted civil liberties and a democratically elected duma.
