After he has spent a lot of money on his military, Bismarck defeats Denmark aftering declaring war on them. He takes Schleswig and Hostein from Denmark. -

Bismarck makes up and excuse to attack Austria and break the alliance. He takes over Holstein and other German states. -
Bismarck becomes Chancellor
Bismarck was promoted to First Chancellor of Germany and was given the name Iron Chancellor. He used realpolitik and had a powerful rule. -

Bismarck saw socialists as a threat to the German Empire. He thought they would start a revolution. Bismarck had laws passed that shut down socialist organizations and prevented their meetings. -

The war started because of conflict with the German Unification. Prussia was at war with France and thats what they wanted. The defeat of France would be necessary to unite the North German Confederation and the independent southern German states. -
