In 1171, Yesugei, Temujin’s father, was on his way home when he came across a Tartar tribe. They had invited Yesugei to eat which is when they had poisoned the food and killed him.
The tribe did not believe that a young boy should rule. Temujin, his three brothers, and mother were casted out and lived in poverty.
The death of his mother followed years later in 1208. Temujin, age nine, took over and became chieftain of their tribe.

The Oniggirat Tribe is a tribe that Temujin wanted to build an alliance with. Through his marriage with Borte, a member of the the tribe, he worked on forming an alliance. Borte ends up getting kidnapped by an enemy tribe. Temujin saved Borte with help and nine months later Borte gives birth to Temujin’s first son.

Wang Khan had disrespected Temujin by refusing to allow his daughter to marry Temujin oldest son.

During his campaign in Xi Xia genghis was suffering from previous injuries. He had died on the camp site in Xi Xia.
Genghis Khan was buried without markings as they did in his tribe.
