Gandhi married Kasturba Makhanji at the age of 14
Gandhi and Kasturba were from two families that were friends. When Gandhi was 14 and Kasturba was 13, they were put into an arranged marriage. Kasturba fought alongside Gandhi for civil rights and independence for India. Gandhi goes to law school
Gandhi left to attend the University College of London law school in 1888. He was affected by discrimination for the first time when he tried sitting in the white only seats of public transport where he was beaten. Gandhi starts his career as a lawyer
He was called to the English bar on June 10, 1891 and started his career as a lawyer. During this time, he founded the Natal Indian Congress. Gandhi traveled to South Africa

Gandhi stayed in South Africa

A mob refuses to let Gandhi back in South Africa
Gandhi planned on staying in South Africa long term so he went back to India and brought his wife and children back to South Africa. A mob of white men was there refusing to let him stay in South Africa. A police superintendent came and helped Gandhi and his family leave the ship safely. A pamphlet about Indian discrimination in South Africa. Great Britain saw this as an anti-government document. Gandhi asked the South African Indians to refuse the Transvaal Asiatic Registration Act
The act announced that Indians should give their identity on command or risk deportation. Gandhi asked the Indian community to peacefully resist in protest. The Indians listened and protested for 7 years.

Gandhi got his first arrest

Gandhi was assassinated in New Delhi
Nathuram Godse, a Hindu nationalist, came to Gandhi and shot him for being too sympathetic to the muslims. Godse thought killing Gandhi would lead to a war to kill muslims. However, it led to peace while mourning Gandhi's death.
