    Henry VIII married Catherine of Aragon
    Prince Arthur, the eldest son of Henry VII married to the Catherine of Aragon in October 1501. But unfortunately, Prince Arthur died on 2 April 1502, after 20 weeks of marriage. Because of his death, Henry VIII made ‘Dynastic Marriage’ with Catherine of Aragon and she became Queen of England by joining the Coronation with Henry VIII on June 24, 1509.

    Henry VIII ask for an annulment of his marriage with Catherine
    Unfortunately, Catherine was unable to produce a male heir. In 1527, Henry VIII who was became too impatient asked Pope Clement VII for an annulment of his marriage with Catherine of Aragon. He argued that, the bible justify his ask for annulment as the marriage with Catherine was against the god’s law. But pope refused the request of annulment as according to Canon Law, pope cannot annul marriage and he also feared rage of Charles V, Catherine’s nephew whose army sacked of rome in 1527.

    Henry VIII started English Reformation Parliament in November 1529. English Reformation Parliament passed and enabled the legislations that supported English Reformation. It was made up of people against beliefs of Roman Catholic Church and people who believed in Lutheranism. People such as Thomas More and Thomas Cromwell were in there. As the first act of English Reformation Parliament, they removed clergy privilege of legal business in that year (1529).

In the winter of 1532, Henry VIII succeed getting support from Francis I of France for marrying Anne Boleyn and he and Anne Boleyn went through a secret marriage. But soon she became pregnant and they took second and official wedding again on 25 January 1533.

    In 1534, he became the head of English Church with the ‘Acts of Supremacy’. Act of Supremacy is a legislation granting of Henry VIII’s royal supremacy. It is a form that acknowledge Henry VIII as the supreme head of English Church. In November 1534, as the Parliament of England passed ‘Act of Supremacy’ Henry finally separated English Church from Catholic Church and English Church gained independence.

    Like Catherine of Aragon, Anne couldn’t produce a male heir. As a first child, she gave birth to Queen Elizabeth I on 7 September 1533. She gave birth to a male child but in January 1536, Anne Boleyn ‘miscarried’ the baby and it died. Because of this incident, Henry VIII got a huge desire for a son which resulted the public’s interest for the Anne’s pregnancies. But Anne couldn’t produce a male child and Henry VIII, to get away from the criticism from the public, he executed Anne on 19 May 1536
