French and Indian War
The French and Indian War was a conflict between US and Great Britain, also known a the 7 years war. The Colonist reacted to this with discontent and ultimately to the American revolution. -
Sugar act
This act cut the imports coming from the Caribbean from $0.06 per gallon to $0.03 decreasing the tax but enforcing it more. The colonist reacted with protest to this act. -
Stamp act
In this act they declared all printed material had to carry a stamp (which was not free).
The colonist boycotted the British goods, ending up forcing parliament to remove the act. -
Declaratory act
A declaration by British parliament that accompanied the repeal of the stamp act that stated that British had the same taxation as America. Colonists reactions were mixed because they were glad there was no more stamp act but know this new act was a threat to their independence. -
Townshend Act
This act initiated taxes on glass, lead, paint, paper, and tea. The colonist again decided to discourage in the person purchase of British imports. -
Tea act
This act allowed exemptions and rebates allowing them to dump cheap tea on the colonies (which actually lowered tea prices). Some of the colonists were upset that the cheap tea would cut into the cost of smugglers, but most were just angry on principle causing the Boston tea party thinking it would lower the tax but it made things worse. -
Intolerable acts
The intolerable acts was a series of events starting with the Massachusetts government act creating self government there. Next was the quartering act forcing colonist to house British soldiers in their homes when ordered to. The last one was the Quebec act expanding southern Quebec and granted religious tolerance to the colonists which wasn’t popular with the great awaken crowd. The way the colonist reacted to these acts was the true start of the American revolution. -

Start of the Revolutionary war
The battle when the 13 colonies rejected its imperial rule. The colonist were hoping to win this and were angry with the British government.
