Forrest wasn't there for the start of the Vietnam War, but he was there in about the middle. This was important because if the war didn't start, he would never meet Bubba or have Bubba Gump's Shrimp. The start of the war was very important for Forrest's story. -

Forrest didn't seem to care that they were going, which some people found odd because back then racism was very normal and harsh. -

Forrest got to meet Nixon because of his ping-pong status. He was great at ping-pong and was on the American team. After the meeting, Forrest talks a little about how Nixon stepped down because of something (Watergate). -
Forrest Speaks in a Vietnam Protest
Forrest was checking out the nation's capital, when he got swept up in a protest against the Vietnam War. He ended up speaking to a large crowd, even though the microphone got unplugged right after he started. That is when he reunited with Jenny in the Washington Memorial Lake. -
Vietnam War Ends
Forrest was playing ping-pong for the army when the war ended. He got discharged after. He had gotten a medal before the war ended, for saving three men. This was a big part in Forrest's life because it let him go home. -
Forrest Creates Bubba Gump Shrimp
After being discharged from the army, and the death of Forrest's best friend Bubba, Forrest went to Bubba's family. After a hurricane the only shrimping boat left was 'Jenny'. Forrest then created Bubba Gump Shrimp for Bubba and his family. -
Forrest Starts Running
Forrest starts running anywhere and everywhere in the USA. He runs for 3 years straight, only stopping for food, water, and restroom breaks. Many people started to join him when he ran. -
