After saving fellow soldiers and demonstrating courage, Forrest receives an award for his bravery. There, he meets President Johnson, who hands him the award. -
Forrest joins the Army Special Services
Forrest joins the Army to entertain the wounded/disabled soldiers. He entertained them with his Ping-Pong skills, which later, earned him a spot on the All-American Ping-Pong team. -
Forrest joins the All-American Ping Pong team
While recovering from a gun wound, Forrest picks up on the skill of Ping-Pong and quickly learns that he is a natural. After he joins the Army Special Services and entertains people with his skills, he earns himself a spot on the All-American Ping-Pong Team and travels to China under a ping-pong diplomacy program.
