The Vietnam was a long-standing conflict. North
Vietnam had become under communist control and was now at war with south Vietnam and ally the U.S. The war go increasing unwanted at home as soldiers came back telling the horrible stories of guerrilla warfare. This caused American to pull out of the war in 1973 and then south Vietnam falling under communist control 2 years thereafter. Forrest joined the army after high school and was shipped off to fight in Vietnam. -
Ping Pong Diplomacy
This was an invitation by the china to the united states in japan for the 31st table tennis championship. Both countries saw an advantage to opening relations to each other over a sports formality. This allowed Americans visas in China caused by professional table tennis players meeting and being casual to one another wanted to play one another. -
University of Alabama Desegregation
On June 10 president Kennedy federalized the national guard in Alabama to enforce the Brown vs Board of Education ruling.Two students were admitted to Alabama university on June 11, 1963. Vivan Malone and James hood were the first African American students successfully enrolled forcing the desegregation of the University of Alabama. Forrest attended Alabama university when these students were admitted to the school and helped one of the students when she dropped her book. -
John F Kennedy
He was the 35th president of the United states. He was only the president for a short time as from January 1961 to November 1963 when he was assassinated. Black panther group
The Black Panther group was created in California on the belief that Martin Luther kings non-violent protest had failed. They believed in a revolution war and they had to take back their rights with violence. They believed that the traditional protest would take too long, they wanted their right now. Forrest met the Black Panther group after seeing her again at the capital. -
Moon landing
Apollo 11 was launched from Kennedy space center in Merritt island in Florida on July 16. Apollo 11 was the first space craft launch that successfully landed on the moon. Neil Armstrong was the first man to successfully step on the moon six hours after landing. -
John lennon
John Lennon was a English singer, songwriter, and cofounder of the Beatles. He was part of the Beatles, which was a English Rock band. George Wallace attempted assassination

Water Gate Scandal
The Water Gate Scandal was when burglars attempted to break into the Democratic National Committee to destroy files. These in which contained evidence showing that Nixon's administration had been abusing power. They had been bugging opponents offices and playing other dirty tricks to get ahead. This led to Nixon's resignation of office. Forrest was in the hotel next to the Watergate complex and saw the burglars searching the complex. -
Hurricane carmen
Hurricane Carmen was the largest most powerful storm of the 1974 hurricane season. This hurricane largely affected the Carribean area as well as Texas and Louisiana. This hurricane ruined the fishing industry by destroying thousands of boats. This is what allowed Forrest Gump the ability to create his shrimping business because there wasn't any competition. -
Apple
Apple was founded in April of 1976 by Steve jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ryan Wayne. They wanted to take computers and build inexpensive revolutionary home computers for personal use. They later grew much larger and the stocks for this company were once pennies now they are worth thousands. Forrest and Lieutenant Dan invested money into Apple and later became rich off the stocks.
