Forrest Gump invented Elvis Presley's new dance
Elvis and Forrest was in a room together and he was playing his guitar for Forest. Forrest started dancing by moving his legs from side to side and shaking them. Later on, Forest and his mother was walking down a strip and stopped by a tv where Elvis was doing the same exact dance Forrest did him him. Elvis was born on Jan 8, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi. He was an american singer and actor. He is often referred to as the "King of Rock and Roll" or "The King". -

Vietnam War
The Vietnam war very controversial during the 20th century. Many people were against the war because they believed that the soldiers was just being sent their to die. When Forrest came back from fighting he got stuck in a big mob where he and jenny reconnected. -
JFK assassination and Forrest Gump meets him
During the movie, first Forrest met JFK because he certified an All-American football player for his work at the University of Alabama. Then in Dallas JFK was in a parade for the upcoming election and someone shot him in the head. And his brother also died as well. JFK negotiated the Nuclear Test-Ban treaty. -
Stand in the schoolhouse door
In the movie Forrest attended the University of Alabama and at the time schools were beginning to be desegregated. One day Forrest witnessed a group of black students trying to attend the school and many whites were protesting it. President JFK federalized National Guard troops and deployed them to the University of Alabama to force its desegregation. Governor Wallace yielded to the federal pressure and the students successfully enrolled. -
Forrest joins Vietnam War
Forrest joined the Vietnam war (1955-1975) and while doing so he met a friend name Bubba. Many soldiers got killed and wounded. He also saved LT Dan's life even though LT Dan wanted to die. The Vietnam War was a long, costly armed conflict that pitted the communist regime of the North Vietnam and its southern allies. The war started by North Vietnamese government and the Viet Cong were fighting to reunify Vietnam. -

The Hippies
After Forrest came back there were a lot of hippies around. Hippies were doing all types of drugs, everything under the sun. Not only them but a group called the Black Panthers, a group full of blacks who were violent. Hippies were members during the 1960s and 1970s of a counterculture movement. The movement originated on college campuses in the United States. The Black Panthers was a political organization founded in 1966 by Huey Newton and Bobby Seale to challenge police brutality. -
Moon landing
The moon landing was by the Apollo II in July. It was on the tv while Forrest was playing on the ping pong table. Neil Armstrong was the man to step on the moon. The purpose of the moon landing was because the Soviet Union launched the satellite Sputnik, and the space race began. The space race began in 1967 and we finally got a man on the moon in 1969. -
Medal of Honor
Forrest received a medal of honor for his courage fighting in the Vietnam War. President Lyndon B. Johnson, America's 36th president, gave it to him. He was the president from 1963 to 1969. He took JFK place after he was murdered. LBJ is remembered for his "Great Society" social service program. -

Ping Pong Diplomacy
During the movie Gump learned how to play ping pong while recovering from a butt injury in the Vietnam war. He rapidly became skilled in it and fascinated all his peers. Later he participated in the ping pong diplomacy in China. The Ping Pong Diplomacy is the exchange of table tennis players between the United States and Peoples Republic of China in the early 1970s. -
Watergate Scandal
Forrest achievements of playing ping pong got him noticed by President Nixon. Forrest got to stay at the Watergate complex and while doing so he watched burglars break in and called security. Nixon eventually started getting accused of having something to do with it and later resigned in 1974. The Watergate Scandal really is a major political scandal that occurred in the US during the early 1970s. One effect of it was election reform laws were passed. -
George Wallace gets shot
Forrest sees the president candidate and Governor of Alabama get shot in the news. He was known very good for his resistance against the blacks. He was shot 5 times and one made him paralyzed. He ran for president 4 times. -

During the movie Jenny was at a club doing heroin and cocaine. She got real low in life and was about to kill herself by stepping off the top floor of a hotel. Drugs were a popular thing at the time especially for people who were carefree and with the hippy movement. Disco music was becoming a popular thing at the time also. -
Hurricane Carmen
During the movie hurricane Carmen hit. Forrest and LT Dan were at sea shrimp fishing. The storm created a lot of physical and economical damage. The storm was the most intense tropical cyclone of the 1974 hurricane season. The storm was destructive and widespread. At first it was a tropical storm. -
Apple
LT Dan invested in Apple and told Forrest to do the same. Apple is an American multinational technology. Apple has phones, ipads, tvs, computers, and watches. It is created by Steve Jobs who died from cancer in 2011.
