The University of Alabama was not a segregated school. the state of Alabama said that it was a states right to segregate the schools, and tried to prevent this from happening. the national guard was then dispensed to deal with this problem. Aids sands for acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. During this time and still to this day many people have and had aids. In the movie, Forest gets married to Jenny, but Jenny soon dies from a strange incurable disease which we later find out was aids.
