    Teller Amendment
    After tensions with Cuba and Spain because of US interventionism, President William McKinley passed the Teller Amendment stating that the Cuban territories would be left to Cuba and the power of its people, as a result leaving them to independence.

    The Gentlemen's Agreement
    The Gentlemen's Agreement of 1907 was a treaty between the United States and Japan to limit Japanese and later on Asian immigration to the United States, like that softening the tension between the countries. It became effective in 1908, after Japanese immigration became an issue given that Japanese citizens would come into America through Mexico or Hawaii. The agreement concluded in not issuing passports to immigrants from both parties.

    The First Red Scare occurred in the United States after the Russian Revolution with rising communists ideologies, both inspired by fact and fiction. It took an aggressive manner in the United States as it would affect immigrants and American workers with the rise of labor unions and racist stereotypes which would result in detainment and deportation.

    The Treaty of Versailles was the document that officially ended World War 1. This treaty also led to the creation of the League of Nations, however the United States decided to stay out of it because they believed that it fought against American Sovereignty. This propelled America into the policy of isolationism: a policy of remaining apart from the affairs or interests of other groups, especially the political affairs of other countries.

    Pearl Harbor
    Right before Pearl Harbor, the US has a foreign policy of neutrality. We would not support or supply any country involved in a war, including a civil war. The attack on Pearl Harbor forced America out of its isolationism and neutrality policies and had them join the war. After the war had ended, the US saw that communism needed to be contained, therefore forming the foreign policy of containment; stopping the spread of communism beyond the countries already influenced by it.

    The Cuban Missile Crisis was an event where American spy drones fling over Cuba had spotted Russian forces setting up missiles in the foreign state. This obviously was a huge concern for our government, because it could have led to nuclear war. Our foreign policy before this was still containment, and the fact that Russia was supporting Cuba by giving them the missiles was extremely against our policy. After about 13 days, both the US and Russia came to an agreement and dismantled their weapons.
