    The westward expansion lasted until 1890. It began with the Louisiana purchase, and the states grew from 17-44 states during this era. The gold rush, mining opportunities, and the expansion of the railroad created major opportunity, and was seen as a promise of prosperity and independence.
  • Womans Rights Movement

    Womans Rights Movement
    Elizabeth Stanton held the first womans rights movement in Seneca Falls, New York. Aiming to have the same political, economic, and social equality. Woman gained the right to vote, work, better pay, and so much more because of this movement.
  • The Reconstruction Era

    Post civil war the United States sought to reconstruct the states, in order to protect the rights of slaves and create better relationships within society. Due to the divide amongst the states and people, the overall objective was to create equality and freedom for all.

    With a high demand for goods and services, society switched to a faster and more efficient manufacturing process. This helped provide higher wages, more product, cheaper prices of goods, and more efficiency. The industrialization era created an increased standard of living and the population grew.

    As a product of the U.S.S. Battleship main's explosion in the Havana Harbor, Americans went to war with Spain. Fighting for freedom, the Americans won Puerto Rico, Philippines, Guam, Cuba and Hawaii as a U.S. territory.

    Following the Japanese attack of Pearl Harbor, Wilson declared war against the Japanese Empire. Germany then declared war against the U.S. and this was was known as "the Great War". While this war lasted four years, the treaty that was made to put an end to WW1 is what leads into WW2.

    The Great Depression occurred because of the stock market crash, and was a downturn for society. Employment, productions, and incomes all changed for the worst. Banks were also failing, and people were losing life savings. Many Americans lost their homes during this time as well.

    As a result of the Great Depression, president Roosevelt passed the new deal. With programs to help relief those who were struggling during the depression, aid in economic recovery, and create financial reforms.

    Franklin Roosevelt established the social security system as a safeguard for hazards in life. It has helped aid millions of Americans and is still used today, in 2023.

    Due to economic depression and the Treaty of Versailles lead America into World War 2. This war destroyed the lives of both service members and civillians. Many lives were lost and towns were in ruins. Many changes were implemented post war, and people moved out of the cities into suburban areas.

    Truman took over presidency as the 33rd president of the United States. He implemented the Marshalls Plan during world war 2, which was a recovery act.

    Tensions between the U.S. and the Soviet Union grew following the surrender to Germany. The United States feared Communism spreading, while USSR wanted more security. However, as the two were both fighting for power this created hostility and eventually lead to this war which ended in 1991 when the Berlin Wall came down.

    Americas attempt to provide economic assistance post war with Europe. This was a recovery program that helped build more stable conditions for these countries.

    A major movement in history in order to restore the rights for the people faced with discrimination. Abolishing segregation and a fight to create equal rights. People such as Rosa Parks, Malcom X, Martin Luther King, and many others played a huge role in this movement creating emphasis and standing up for what was right.
