    Monasticism was a new movement that began with the spread of Christianity. Antony, a holy man in Egypt, sold all of his worldly possessions to imitate the life of Christ. The movement focused on self-denial and was very popular in early Christianity.

Also since it was so new and spreading so quickly through many languages, it was hard to keep everything the same.     The Protestant Reformation exposed the false teachings of the Roman Catholic Church and started other denominations. We still can see the reformation today in the denominations that we choose from.

    Martin Luther started the Protestant Reformation by exposing the false teachings of the Roman Catholic Church in his 95 theses that he posted on the door. This idea spread and became popular starting the Reformation.
