When the 1920's began we were still shaken by the First World War. Although the war wasn't directly related to fashion, the fashion industry as a whole was changed drastically. As the world basked in simplicity, one of the most popular looks was the "flapper look" which consisted of sleeveless and knee-cut dresses. Along with that Coco Channel's iconic little black dress also originated in this period. Sportswear was also a more normalized attire for women during this time. -

The '40s was the beginning of World War II brought its own restrictions and limitations on the potential for growth in fashion. There was little to no growth and improvement during this era in terms of fashion and new ideas in the industry. This is because most of the focus was shifted onto the war requiring many designers who were able to enroll to do so. Another downside of this era was the inability to globally expand designs as clothes created in France were unable to be seen elsewhere. -

modern day fashion, 2020's
Fashion today is very experimental and full. We've had lots of time to implement new designs and other things in fashion. I think we're in a renaissance-type period where everyone who is into fashion is creating and prospering. This leads to only growth and new designs of clothes and styles in fashion. Although fast fashion has been popularized with clothes being manufactured and unoriginal although this is true as well I think that the aspect of there being evolution overall is beneficial.
