The Hiss Affair
Alger Hiss was a former state department official, who later served on President Roosevelt's staff at the Yalta Conference. Whittaker Chambers was a senior editor in Times magazine. Chambers wrongly accused many government officials of being communist. One of those officials was Alger Hiss. Hiss later was arested and sent to jail because of Chambers wild accusations. -
Loyalty Oath Controversy at University of California
Many regents were unhappy about UC Berkley and also felt that UCLA was being unfairly treated. There were many dissatisfactions with UCLA. The regents decided they wanted change and reorganization. This became known as the Loyalty Oath Controversy. -

Horror comics were banned because people feared they corrupted the youth. Words such as "horror", "terror", and "crime" were even banned from all comics. -

Senator Joseph McCarthy accused many government officials of being communist. He also accused the U.S. Army of sheltering commies. In the McCarthy hearings if you were accused of being a communist you were viewed as a communist even if you weren't proven guilty. -
Brown vs Board of Eduaction decision
The Brown vs Board of Education is five separate cases that ultimatly ended the racial segregation in all public schools. Chief Justice Earl Warren anounced that "Separate educational facilities are inherently unequal." Therefor, eventually ending the segregation of races in public school.
