The Age of Discovery, also known as the Age of Exploration, is one of the most important periods of geographical exploration in human history. It started in the early 15th century.Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan led the first circumnavigation of the globe (1519-1521). Juan Sebastián Elcano took command after Ferdinand's death and completed the voyage, becoming the first person to circumnavigate the earth (1521-1522). -
