    Columbus' First Voyage
    -Columbus sailed for Spain even though he was originally from Italy
    He was looking for a new trade route to Asia
    He ended up finding, not a new route to Asia, but new lands. He discovered North and South america
    It was important because he started Spanish exploration in America. Without him the Americas probably wouldn't have been discovered for a long time.

    -Cortes conquered around Mexico city. The Aztec Empire's capital Tenochtitlan.
    He conquered the Aztecs.
    This is of great importance because his actions open up exploration in Mexico.

    • Pineda mapped the coast from Florida to Texas. He is said to be the first explorer to ever step foot in Texas This was important because his map led to further exploration along the coast, which led to colonization.

    The original leader was Narvez, but he died
    DeVaca wasn't truly a conquistador, he was actually an accountant!

    DeVaca was in Texas for 8 years!

    Fray Marcos and Esteban

    Fray Marcos and Esteban
    • Fray Marcos and Esteban went to confirm DeVaca's hearings about the seven cities of gold, or Cibola, Esteban was killed by the Zuni indian tribe. Fray Marcos thought he saw the seven cities of gold when he saw a glint of shine reflected into the sky.(It was actually fool's gold!). Seeing this he confirmed DeVaca's hearings to Spain

    Moscoso' Expedition
    • The original leader was De Soto, but he died. Moscoso gave a bad report about Texas, say that the land was harsh, and the Indians were mean. His report, along with Coronado's, stopped any major expeditions in Texas from Spain for 150 years.

    Coronado's Expedition
    -Coronado searched for Cibola, and Quivera. His guide for the second part of the journey was Turk, a native american who got his name because he looked Turkish.Turk was strangled by Coronado, when he figured out that Quivera wasn't real.Coronado, in his search for the 2 cities, discovered the Palo Duro canyon in Texas, and the Grand canyon in Arizona.He was important because his horrible report about Teaxas, along with Moscoso's stopped any major expeditions in Texas for 150 years!
