First European
Columbus was the first European to ever make it to North America. He discovered present-day Mexico and Cuba. It took some time before he could do this and get an 'okay' from the king and queen. -

Columbus' Second Expedition
Columbus' had a second expedition, this time to find gold and to capture Indians as slaves in the Indies. This lasted from Sep. 25 1493 to Jun. 11 1496. He had 3rd and 4th trips, but those will not be in this timeline. -

Balboa
Balboa sailed with Bastidas from Spain to Colombia, South America, in order to find treasures of gold and pearls. They left their ship, which was leaking at the time, in Hispanolia. -

Discovery by Vespucci
Vespucci was the first person to realize the Americas is sepereated from Asia. He was mapping part of the Eastern coast of South America and came to realize that it was a "New World". He also found the mouth of the Amazon and the Orinoco Rivers. -

Sebastian Cabot
Cabot searched for the Northwest passage acros North America in 1508. He had a couple of unsuccessful trips like the one he planned to go around the world in 1526-1529, but it never worked out as plan the first attempt. -

Ayllon
Ayllon was the colonizer of South Carolina, as he tried to start a colony there. He attempted to settle in South Carolina, by the mouth of the Peedee River, but was unsuccessful. -

Vaca
There was a hurricane near Cuba that he had survived and he landed in Tampa Bay. They went all along the coast, passing through the Rio Grande three times, and made it to Mexico City, where he then explored along the Paraguay River. -

Soto's Achievement
Soto sailed the Atlantic Ocean and was the first European to explore Florida and southeastern parts of America in 1536. (It was unclear what year but it said that he was granted rights for Florida in 1536.) -

Jacques Cartier
Jacques Cartier led three expeditions. His first one was in 1534, his second was in 1535, and his last one in 1541. The three expeditions were all to Canada and he attempted to settle in what is now Quebec, but was kicked away by harsh weather. He ended up naming the whole region Canada in the end. -

Cabrillo
Cabrillo was the first European explorer of the Californian coast. He went from Acapulco to southern California, claiming the area of California for King Charles I of Spain
