Formation of Advancement of Physical Education
William G. Anderson was concerned about his own lack of training and preparation to be a professional physical educator so, he held a meeting for people who were also interested in the profession. They formed the Association for the Advancement of Physical Education. Dr. Edward Hitchcock who developed the first collegiate physical education program 24 years earlier was elected the president of the group. This group sets the guidelines to help physically educate children. -
Fredrick Alexander Technique
His technique along with Feldenkrais helped develop fitness as we know it today. The fitness industry is designed to not only helped individuals lose wieght but to help correct their posture, due to life activities and stresses, in order to get ride of the every day aches and pains that our body starts to develop as the age process happens. -

White castle was founded in 1921 in Whichita Kansa. This is the first fast food restaurant in the united states. White Castle was developed by Cook Walter A. Anderson partnered with, insurance man, Edgar Waldo "Billy" Ingram to make White Castle into a chain of restaurants and market White Castle. leading to many others and resulting in the rise of obesity in the united states. -
Technology Beginning
The invention of the television. Don't get me wrong, I think that the technololgy that has happened since the t.v. is good but this along with the creation of fastfood has a direct effect on the rise in obesity over time. From the invention of this to the technology that we have today we have shifted from being a farming, active country to a lazy country that has everything done by machines. Yes its more efficient but as you see our health and well being is in jeopardy. -
Joseph Pilates
Created the Pilates method, to go along with other theories. Designed a method to go along with the alexander technique but expanded a little by saying that we need to work from the center out. This is to enbable us to aquire an efficiently moving body. -
Feldenkrais Method of Exercising
This is more of a theory that Feldenkrais discovered and it is called "Awarness through Movement". This awarness through movement is an attempt to make individuals aware of how their body functions compared to how it is suppose to function. By knowing this one can adjust their body through movements in order to help get ride of everyday aches and pains. This theory is one of the theories all exercising is based off of, weather it is physical therapy, or personal training. -
Jump Rope Games
This was a series of events that enticed people to really start to become more active. Jumping rope is one of the best cardiovascular activities that one can do and these games really motivated people to begin using a exercise tool that is believed to be around as early as the 1600's -
Consumerism Post WWII
Even though this sparked the economy and help us become who we are today, it was the stage were a lot of fast foods took off, televisions started to sell, and cars started to become purchased more heavily. This helped our economy all while helping us become more sedentary and less active through out the day. -

This says "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance". Title IX opened the door for females and minorities to be able to become more phyiscally active at athletic activities. Enabling individuals to live a healthier more active lifestyle. -

This was when the first video game system was invented, the atari. All though these are fun, it leads to the less and less activity for childrdn due to staying inside and having sedentary lifestyle. -
Presidents Challenge and Creation of National Association for health and Fitness
This a new fitness standard for helping children determine and increase their fitness levels. It focus's on the five fitness factors of life which are: Aerobic Fitness, Muscualr Strength, Muscular Endurance, Flexibilty and focuses on ones body composition. This is a way to help decrease childhood obesity and really focus on the physical health and well being of the students of the nation. -
Center For Disease Control
This is an agency that helps with knowledge and defencse on disease and disorders that happen. THis is a good agency to have considering knowledge is powerful and the more we have on obesity the more physical activity that individauls will want to perform in order to prevent obesity. -
Sports and School Involvement
This is the year that I started playing football and I realized that this was one thing that enticed me to become a little better at school. Later wanting to continue playing after high school and actually going to college. -
My motivational factor for striving in school
On this day I met with my guidance counselor and he asked me one question "Do you plan on going to college?" My response was "Yes" and he Instantly said "With your grades there is no way that you will make it into a college." This was the time in point were I turned my act around and accepted his challenge, I am very competitive, and did everything I could to bring my grades up and go to college. -
Acceptance into Heidelberg University
This was the day that I realized I proved my counselor wrong and I am going to college to better myself and get an education. At this point I had not Idea what I wanted to be but, I took a seigh of relief because I made it into college and I was going to be able to pursue my passion of football. -

According to a study, performed by the CDC, based on the rise of obesity throughout the united states it is projected that in two years from now the obestity rate will be at 75 percent. That is astronomical to think of considering that would mean that 3 out of every 4 Americans would be OBESE. When are we going to start taking our health and wellness seriously and become more active as a culture?
