Before Legos
The Lego group gathered in a carpentry workshop of Ole Kirk Christiansen. He started to make wooden toys. -
How It Got It's Name
He started calling it "Lego". Based on the Danish phrase "Leg Godt" which means "play well" he got the name. -
Plastic Legos
The Lego group started to make its great blocks using plastic. -
Finding the Right Material
After 5 years, they found a perfect material for it- ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) polymer. It's sort of like plastic. -
Brick Design!
Its brick design was then patented. -
Expanding the Company
Lego sold its first box to the US in 1962.
