    In 2011, the app, Skype became more well known and was seen as a key tool to further education outside of the classroom in an effort to earn greater collaboration. With this advancement, scholars could receive and show real time feedback of their works through the use of video calling.

    In 2012, with the rise of smartphones and more teens having access to the internet in their pockets, schools began to implement Bring Your Own Device procedures. BYOD became a hit since most students already had the device in their pockets at school anyway. The only struggle came with trying to limit the amount of access the students were given.

    With companies like Apple and Samsung steadily creating new smartphones and updating their old ones, more cell phones found their way into classrooms. This rise of technology in the classroom allowed for quicker searches and faster responses to ongoing questions.

    In 2014, 3D printing took the education world by storm. With these new printers, teachers and students were able to create durable 3 dimensional models for lessons and projects within minutes.

    Of course with the rise of mobile phones and the increase of students who had access to a mobile device, teachers were able to now create lessons entirely online. These new lessons allowed the students to jump from website to website, completing tasks and growing their understanding for their subjects.

    Just after the halfway point in the decade, a new form of learning emerged. Virtual Reality now allows students to submerse themselves in the lesson and escape the outside world. The use of "VR" Goggles aided the students in becoming encased with the online world they were being presented.

    While smartboards have been around for quite some time, their emergence into the classroom took some time. These interactive whiteboards allowed for a connection to an online software in which students could use certain pens that, when they came into contact with the board, would allow then to select correct answers and move onto the next page all while staying connected to the online world.

    Like Virtual Reality, this allowed for a more interactive learning environment. The difference is that this type of learning did not input the student into a new world, but rather changed the way the student saw the things around them. When using a smart device, the student would be able to explore more deeply into subjects when facing the camera at the object.

    With so much use of the internet taking place in schools, it was imperative that teachers be able to track what helps their students the most. Learning analytics noted which apps and programs helped the student learn better as an individual and allowed the teacher to produce personalized lesson plans to help each student succeed.

    Though some schools had already implemented the use of Chromebooks in the classroom, these newly improved and updated devices could store each students work individually and allow for logging in and out before and after each use. This helped the students be able to monitor their own progress and keep track of the assignments they still needed to complete.
