The first iPhone
The first iPhone was originally much speculation and rumors but eventually did happen. It was released to the public on June 29, 2007. It was the first phone to have multi touch technology. Also was the first iPhone to have a virtual keyboard. This phone was the one that started a new era of technology to the whole world. -
The iPhone 3G
The iPhone 3G is the second generation of Apple phones. This phone was introduced on June 9, 2008 at the WWDC 2008. This iPhone was similar to the first generation but added many new hardware features such as GPS system and 3G capabilities. This is where it got it's name iPhone 3G. -
The iPhone 4
The iPhone 4 had many leaks and was first revealed on June 7, 2010 at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco. The phone was released to the public on June 24, 2010. The iPhone 4 was also another big jump for Apple Inc. because this is when the iPhone started to get a slimline design and was actually the thinnest smartphone in the world at the time and also had many new features developed by Steve Jobs. This iPhone was a big success for Apple. -
The iPhone 4s
The iPhone 4s is the fifth generation of iPhone for Apple Inc. Was released on October 14, 2011 and had four million units sold in less than three days. This phone was called the "4s" because the S stood for siri, because this was the first iPhone to incorporate siri. Also the phone had better hardware installed with a A5 chipset and a 1080 camera. Also incorporated many new apps such as notifications center, iCloud, and many more apps. -
The iPhone 5
The iPhone 5 was released on September 21, 2012 and is the sixth generation of iPhone. This was the first iPhone to have an aluminum body to make it lighter and thinner. This phone was a little taller than the previous iPhone and now had LTE support and lightning support. Also had a brand new compact docking cord. This phone received over two million pre-orders in less than 24 hours. This phone was one of the bigger technology jumps for Apple Inc. -
The iPhone 5s
The iPhone 5s was released on September 20, 2013. This phone received some hardware upgrades previous to the iPhone 5 and did improve quite a bit. A redesigned home button allowed the first touch ID in Apple Inc. The touch ID was a huge success and has been used in all the other iPhone's ever since. The iPhone 5s had broke Apple's record for sales and was the best selling phone in 2013. Also one of the most unique things about this phone is that it is the oldest phone to support IOS 11. -
The iPhone 6
The iPhone 6 was released on September 19, 2014. Some of the biggest changes Apple made was a bigger screen which was a 4.7 and 5.5 inches, a faster processor, upgraded cameras, improved LTE and Wi-Fi connectivity and support. More than ten million iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus devices were sold in the first three days, another Apple record.[21] During its lifespan, the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus sold 220 million in total, making it one of the most successful phones to date. The iPhone 7
The iPhone 7 was released on September 16, 2016. This was the first iPhone that didn't incorporate a headphone jack so you must use bluetooth to connect headphones or anything else to your phone. This phone was also water and dust resistance. There was a major graphics upgrade and camera upgrade. Overall the phone was very similar to the iPhone 6 and 6s so sales on this phone was not very high. This was one of Apple's not as successful products. -
The iPhone 8
The iPhone 8 was released on September 22, 2017. The iPhone was announced at the Steve Jobs Theater. On this phone they decided to bring back the glass to make wireless charging allowable. Also followed by a improved processor and camera. The iPhone 8 shares most of its hardware with the iPhone X but not all of it. The iPhone 8 again has a pretty big upgrade in hardware compared to the iPhone 7. -
The iPhone X
The iPhone X was released on November 3, 2017. The "X" stands for ten in roman numerals. The iPhone X is positioned as a high-end, premium model with what Apple is presenting as technology of the future. It features wireless charging, an OLED display, dual-lens cameras with improved depth sensing, and a face recognition system called Face ID. Most of its internal hardware is shared with the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. This phone is supposed to hint at what Apple might bring in the future.
