capturing New Mexico
Commander Brig. Gren Stephen Watts Kearny and the west side of the United states army invaded New mexico around Santa Fe and was able to obtain possession of Santa Fe and declared that area is now territory of the U.S. and all who are residences in that area are now U.S citizens and they did it without a single bullet being fired. they announced it by Sticking a U.S flag in Santa Fe.

Revolt of 1847
New Mexicans were unhappy with the result of the U.S. having territory in Santa Fe so they had an uprising and killed Governor Bent and those who sided with the new standards in Taos. Another group had killed at least five people in Mora.They started to travel towards Santa Fe to reclaim their land.

The End of The Mexican American war
While troops occupied new mexico land, and suppressed the revolt in the south of mexico a violent war was occurring. ten thousand U.S. troops were stationed at the Mexican port of Veracruz. Soon the battle reached Mexico City. They decided it was time to negotiate peace after America had mexico city in their hands and that was the end of the Mexican American war.
