Proclamation of 1763
King George III made the Proclamation of October 7th 1763 to stop westward travel towards the Appalachian Mountains to keep the peace between the colonist and the Indians. -
Sugar Act of 1764
The Sugar Act had been around since 1733 but no one really started to enforce it until wealthy merchants started making lots of money causing poor colonists to smuggle to try to get rich as well. This tax was put on foreign made molasses to stop the smuggling but that definitely didn't work. -
Stamp Act of 1765
The Stamp Act was a law passed that forced anyone who wanted to send paper of any kind anywhere to have a stamp. This act caused many angry colonist to form the Son's of Liberty which was started by Samuel Adams. The Son's of Liberty tortured the stamp agents and royal governor's by tar and feathering them and many other ways. -
Repeal of Stamp Act 1766
The repeal of the Stamp act was sent out the same day the that parliament made it clear that they are allowed and will tax the colonist. The Declaratory acts were enforced on the same day to insure that the colonist knew that the British government had all control over legislature power. -
Declaratory Act of 1766 (extra 1)
The Declaratory act came about the same day the Stamp act was repealed. The Declaratory act was made to instill the authority in the British parliament and make sure the control was still in British hands. -
Boston Massacre (Not really)
Colonist started a fight between redcoats and 5 men were left dead in the snow. Samuel Adams and over colonist named it the Boston Massacre to draw attention to the redcoat. -
Tea Act of 1773 (extra 2)
The tea act was passed to reduce the amount of tea left in the East India company and help the company stay in business. The colonist were not happy about this act resulting in the Boston Tea Party. -
Boston Tea Party of 1773
the Boston Tea Party was the colonist reaction to the Tea act passed in may 10th 1773. Colonist decided to dump 92,000 pounds of tea in the Boston Harbor. Today all that tea would be equal to 1 million dollars worth. -
Intolerable Acts of 1774
The intolerable acts were put in place by the British as a punishment for the american colonist protests. A few things the intolerable acts did was shut down the Boston Harbor, make it illegal for you to refuse solider's into your home, no British official could be put on trial in the colonies, and no town meetings. -

The Declaration of Independence was written as a result of the restrictions the British government put on the american colonist. The Declaration of Independence was written by Thomas Jefferson and representatives of all the other colonies in America came to break away from the strict control of Britain
